The night of San Lorenzo transforms our farmhouse into a magical place, where heaven and earth meet in an embrace of light and wonder. The collaboration with the astrophysicists of the Astro Versilia association makes the experience even more special, enriching the evening with engaging activities and unforgettable moments.
The night of San Lorenzo has a profound spiritual meaning. Traditionally, August 10th is the day on which the martyrdom of San Lorenzo is remembered, who in his unshakable faith has become a symbol of hope and sacrifice. The shooting stars, known as the "tears of San Lorenzo", evoke the saint's moments of suffering, but also his ascension towards heaven. This celestial phenomenon invites us to reflect on our existence, to reconnect with the divine and celebrate the beauty of life. Watching shooting stars is a ritual that allows us to make wishes, let go of the past and embrace new hopes. It is a night in which the sky seems to open to listen to our dreams and prayers, a moment of introspection and spiritual renewal.
Activity for children: creation of the Solar System
The air is filled with excitement as children gather for creative activity. Together with the astrophysicists of the Astro Versilia Association, they explore the mysteries of our solar system. With wide eyes and industrious hands, the little artists model colorful planets, giving life to a small universe.
Every detail takes shape under the expert guidance of the master amateur astronomers, who tell stories and curiosities about each planet, transforming science into a fascinating adventure. The solar system slowly takes shape and color, with the creativity and laughter of children resonating like a joyful melody.
Local tasting dinner under the stars in Versilia The evening advances gently and our illuminated lake becomes the heart of this magical night. The soft lights are reflected on the lake, creating plays of light that dance on the water like shooting stars. While waiting for the sky to light up with stars, we savor our 0km tasting dinner of agricultural products of our own production and those of local producers. Dinner opens with a variety of dishes prepared with fresh, local ingredients, offering a riot of flavors and aromas. The scents of aromatic herbs and freshly cooked foods envelop the air.
We savor every morsel under the sky that begins to reveal its first stars, feeling part of a living picture.
Observation of the Celestial Vault together with the Astrophysicists of the Astroversilia Association The night reaches its peak when we move towards our Observatory. The atmosphere is full of anticipation and wonder. The astrophysicists of the Astro Versilia Association prepare their professional telescopes and we prepare to peer into the immensity of the sky. Every shooting star is a wish that comes true, a dream that takes flight.
The constellations reveal themselves one after the other, telling ancient stories of myths and legends. The calm and passionate voice of astrophysicists guides the observation, transforming the night sky into an open book to read together.
Nocino filtering: collection, infusion and waiting Under the starry sky, we gather to filter our nocino, a liqueur made from green walnuts harvested at the end of June and macerated for approximately 45 days during the Notte di San Giovanni. On the night of San Giovanni, 23 June, one of the most fascinating and mysterious traditions in Italy is celebrated: the gathering of witches or wise women of the family around the walnut tree. This magical night, also known as the Night of the Witches, is steeped in legends and popular beliefs that are handed down from generation to generation.
According to tradition, witches gather under the large walnut trees to perform rituals. These trees, full of symbolism, are considered places of great power, where the energies of nature are concentrated in a special way. The walnut tree is also considered the meeting point between the earthly and supernatural worlds, making it the ideal place for these celebrations. Gathered around the table we cut the nuts and mix them with the other ingredients: sugar, cloves, cinnamon and other spices, each bringing their own contribution. It is a collective work that brings us together, as we share stories and hopes. The nocino, with its long infusion process, symbolizes patience and transformation. Just as nuts must rest and ripen, our desires and projects also need time to take shape. Every year, the nocino we produce brings with it the energy of these 2 special nights, becoming a unique and powerful elixir, to be tasted from Christmas onwards directly in our farmhouse. Under the sky illuminated by shooting stars, we feel part of something bigger, united by the earth, the stars and our dreams. The night of San Lorenzo in our farmhouse is a sensorial and spiritual journey that unites people, stories and stars. Every year this night reminds us of the beauty of our world and the universe and the importance of dreaming. The collaboration with Astro Versilia allows us to experience an evening where science becomes poetry and nature becomes magic.
